Our Mission
Our mission is to apply theory and research to drive social change and inspire human expression, reflection, and interconnection.
We accomplish this mission by (a) Constructing deep and diverse learning opportunities for students in and outside of the classroom, (b) Producing, sharing, and responding to disciplinary, and community-based knowledge and research; and (c) Linking to the community through engagement and public service.
The College of Social Sciences and Communication includes 7 units offering degrees at the associate, baccalaureate, master, and doctoral levels, including the School of Mass Communication, the School of Public Affairs, and the departments of Applied Communication, Rhetoric and Writing, Criminal Justice, Psychology, and Sociology and Anthropology. The college also supports several research centers and institutes, including University Television, KLRE/KUAR public radio, the Survey Research Center, the Center for Nonprofit Organizations, and the Center for Public Collaboration.
