THEA 3362 - Directing I

Three credit hours.

A practical application course designed to introduce directorial skills and techniques, focusing on exploration of space and close reading of the text. Through a progressive series of analytical and creative encounters in conjunction with scene work, the director develops methodologies for reading for action, determining thematic focus, working with varied theatre configurations and communication with the acting ensemble. The course
culminates in a public showing of a ten minute scene.

Prerequisites: THEA 2352 and THEA 2360.
