Arkansas Probate Practice - LAW 6367 Credits Hours: 3
The goal of this course is to teach future attorneys how to litigate probate cases in Arkansas. A student completing this class satisfactorily will have the knowledge and skills to file, litigate, and complete adoptions, guardianships, and decedents’ estate cases in Arkansas circuit courts. They will also be familiar with civil commitments and the basics of trust amendment and interpretation.The course will blend lectures with frequent practical assignments including drafting and filing pleadings and conducting segmented and full hearings on both contested and uncontested matters. This class will be beneficial not only to those interested in practicing probate law (particularly useful in small practices and valuable in medium and large firms), but any law student who may litigate in Arkansas circuit courts in any area. This is a practical, experiential class designed to train lawyers how to practice law the day they get their Arkansas bar results.
