READ 8330 - Cognitive and Social Theories in Literacy Learning This course examines theories of cognitive, linguistic, and social learning and their practical implications for teaching students in the elementary and middle grades. A focus is placed on using language as a problem-solving tool for learning about literacy. Research-based components of literacy are examined and applied to the everyday context of teaching and learning.
