The Technical Certificate (TC) in Software Engineering builds upon the Certificate of Proficiency and has been developed by the Department of Information Science to provide students with an expanded and more advanced preparation for careers in software and web development.
The program is designed for students who have completed the Certificate of Proficiency, current UA Little Rock undergraduates seeking to deepen their expertise, and professionals who wish to strengthen their technical competencies in areas of high workforce demand. As industries increasingly rely on secure, data-driven applications and cloud-based solutions, the demand for software engineers with server-side development and DevSecOps knowledge continues to accelerate.
This certificate emphasizes advanced front-end development, server-side programming, database integration, cybersecurity principles, and DevSecOps practices. Students will also participate in a full-stack practicum that simulates real-world, team-based development environments. Through this experience, students will refine their skills in collaborative workflows, continuous integration and deployment, and professional project delivery.
Completion of the Technical Certificate prepares graduates to contribute effectively to complex software projects in industry and serves as a strong foundation for further study in bachelor’s programs such as Computer Science, Web Design and Development, or Cybersecurity.
