This concentration is designed to prepare students to enter the workforce of health care and medical services or other related programs. This concentration can be used to move toward specific graduate programs, employment in governmental agencies, non-profit organizations, or positions where an integrating clinical biology degree is required.
Students can use the clinical biology concentration to ready themselves for the following clinical biology options:
- Cytotechnology
- Cardio-Respiratory Care
- Dental Hygiene
- Medical Laboratory Sciences
- Nuclear Medicine
- Imaging Sciences
- Radiologic Imaging Sciences
- Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- Physical therapy
- Physician Assistant
Students completing this program have a broad background and have enough upper-level courses to build depth in clinical biology theory.
This concentration provides sufficient flexibility to tailor their coursework to fit broader or more specific career needs.

First Year Colloquium (0-3 hours)
Required for full-time first-year students entering college for the first time and transfer students with less than 12 hours of credit.
Second Language Proficiency
(None Required)
Biology Foundation Courses - All Concentrations (23 hours)
Students must achieve a C or more extraordinary in each of these courses to complete the foundation course requirements.
Clinical Biology Elective Courses (17 hours required)
Must include at least three courses with laboratories either as part of the course or as a separately numbered laboratory course.
Additional Requirements (21 hours)
Students must complete at least eight hours of freshman chemistry, four hours of organic chemistry, six hours of physics, and three hours of computer science or statistics or bioinformatics.
Unrestricted General Electives
Remaining hours to reach 120 minimum total hours, 45 hours of upper-level courses (3000-4000 level), and 30 hours in residence.
