Middle Eastern Studies Certificate of Proficiency


The Certificate of Proficiency in Middle Eastern Studies is an interdisciplinary certificate that provides students the opportunity to study the Middle East in-depth by combining existing course offerings from several disciplines.

The certificate will provide opportunities not only for UA Little Rock students but also for individuals/professionals from the local community/professionals who are interested in learning and/or advancing their learning about the Middle East region. The certificate will provide students with a deeper understanding of the historical, cultural, social, and political environment in the Middle East.

It will offer a foundation for graduate work that prepares students as they pursue their work as scholars and/or professionals of Middle East Studies.

The certificate will help students prepare and tackle job opportunities in business, government, and the nonprofit sector related to the Middle East and/or immigrants from the region.

Program Requirements (12 credit hours)


In consultation with the Middle Eastern Studies Program Coordinator, students will select four courses focused on the Middle East including, but not limited to, the following:
