Was HIST 5328. In this class we will examine South Africa’s development form the seventeenth century to the present. In particular we will explore how the geography of southern Africa shaped the emergence of a group of distinct cultures, and how the expansion of racial divisions influenced South African society. We will also focus on the forces of tradition and modernity in the new South Africa.
