MEEG 57443 - (was 5374) Fluid Mechanics II

Three hours lecture. Three credit hours.

Was MEEG 5374. The important features of compressible flows of ideal gas will be discussed with particular attention to the role of Mach number and speed of sound in the analysis. Characteristics of isentropic and non-isentropic flows, including normal shock waves, will be investigated. Turbomachines such as pumps, fans, compressors, and turbines will be introduced. The angular momentum equation will be used to analyze performance characteristics of these turbomachines. If taken at the 40000 level can not be taken at the 50000 level. Dual listed in the Undergraduate Catalog as MEEG 47443.

Prerequisites: MEEG 47443 or instructor consent.
