ERSC 4450 - Environmental Geochemistry Three hours lecture. Two hours laboratory per week. Four credit hours.
This course will present the principles of geochemistry in order to foster an understanding of natural processes in the critical zone( intersection of the geosphere/lithosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere) as well as anthropogenic impacts on the environment. Topics included are: surficial and environmental mineralogy, organic compounds, aqueous systems, carbonate geochemistry, biogeochemical cycles, atmosphere, air pollution , chemical weathering and soils, and stable and radioactive isotope geochemistry. Dual listed in the Graduate Catalog as ERSC 5450
Prerequisites: ERSC 1302 or 1304 and CHEM 1402
