BIOL 71173 - (was 7311) Behavioral Ecology Three hours lecture. Three credit hours.
Was BIOL 7311. Broad introduction to the field of Behavioral Ecology and how evolutionary and ecological constraints shape behavioral strategies and tactics. Topics to be addressed include the evolution of life histories, reproductive decisions, resource acquisition and utilization, and the costs and benefits of sociality. Computer exercises during some scheduled lecture times will include foraging and habitat use, game theory, and species interaction models.
Prerequisites: BIOL 30393 (was BIOL 3303) and BIOL 40593 (was BIOL 4305)/BIOL 50593 or the equivalent, or instructor consent.
