Was MUTH 3231. Survey of forms, shapes, and genres in music of the common practice period (16001900) emphasizing the designations and categories of form. Principles of variety and unity and the language of musical analysis in standard tonal structure will be the topic of study.

Prerequisites: Grades of C or greater for declared music majors or consent of instructor or department advisor.
