PHYS 41153 - (was 4311) Classical Mechanics

One hour optional discussion and three hours lecture. Three credit hours.

Was PHYS 4311. Concepts of Newtonian mechanics, dynamics of particles and systems of particles, gravitation, vector analysis, dynamics of rigid bodies, moving coordinate systems, continuous media, small oscillations, and the methods of Lagrange and Hamilton. Dual listed in the Graduate Catalog as PHYS 51153 (was PHYS 5311).

Prerequisites: PHYS 20303 , MATH 2306 or MATH 25004 , or consent of the instructor.
