Program Requirements (16 hours)

16 Upper-level RHET courses, to include

Required Courses (4 hours)

• ENGL 30193 - (was RHET 3301) Editing for Usage, Style, and Clarity
• ENGL 44091 - (was RHET 4190) Colloquium in Rhetoric and Writing

Electives (12 hours)

• Two (2) 3000-level RHET courses
• Two (2) 4000-level RHET courses

Prerequisites

Completed first-year composition requirement through coursework or testing.

Students taking the stand-alone certificate may need to complete up to six (6) hours of FYC before enrolling. Students should also be aware that 4000-level courses may have 3000-level prerequisites.

Students are encouraged to complete an internship, which can count as one of the upper-level courses.

The certificate will be available both on the main campus and online.
