NURS 3205 - Transcultural Nursing

Two credit hours.

This course presents a basic nursing theory of transcultural nursing care. Unfolding case studies, lectures, clinical judgment scenarios, and collaborative projects are used to guide the students in providing culturally appropriate care for a patient, family, or group from commonly observed cultural backgrounds in the United States. The essential competencies for the course are outlined by the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) competencies: quality improvement, teamwork and collaboration, patient-centered care, evidence-based practice, informatics, and safety. An end-of-course collaborative project is designed to provide experiences to expand the synthesis of the competencies.

Prerequisites: Enrollment in the AAS or BSN nursing program
