CRJU 42833 - Domestic Violence

Three credit hours.

Domestic violence will be examined in the context of family violence. Crimes within the family, child abuse, elder abuse and intimate partner violence will all be discussed. Legal consequences will also be explored including the police response towards domestic violence, pro-arrest policies, and restraining orders, along with the consequences for victims of domestic violence. Theories of violence within the family will also be examined by looking through the lens of major criminological perspectives.
