Was HIST 4316. The late eighteenth-century age of revolution and its background. The crisis of the Old Regime; the contributions of Jansenism, the Enlightenment, constitutionalism, and the politics of gender to the formation of a revolutionary ideology; the course of revolution during the last decade of the eighteenth century. Emphasis on France, but some attention to Britain, Germany, Italy, and America.
