One hour optional discussion and three hours lecture. Three credit hours.

Was PHYS 4340. Structure of crystals, dispersion relations, specific heat, phonons, electric and magnetic properties of insulators and metals, band theory of metals, insulators, semiconductors, and superconductivity.

Prerequisites: PHYS 32343 .
