Was SOWK 1301. Focuses on the major concepts and principles of professional social work, including: the development of social welfare, history of social work, knowledge, skills, and value base of social work, models of social work methods, and current social work practice applications. The course also looks at the basis of knowledge from which the theories of social justice and diversity spring and lays a foundation for social workers’ professional entry into both public and private arenas.
