MEEG 47443 - (was 4374) Fluid Mechanics II

Three credit hours.

Was MEEG 4374. The important features of compressible flows of ideal gas will be discussed with particular attention on the role of Mach number and speed of sound in the analysis. Characteristics of isentropic and non-isentropic flows including normal shock waves will be investigated. Turbomachines such as pumps, fans, compressors, and turbines will be introduced. The angular momentum equation will be used to analyze the performance characteristics of these turbomachines. Dual listed in the Graduate Catalog as MEEG 57443 (was MEEG 5374).
