ELED 40103 - (was ELEM 4301) Data-Driven Reading Assessment

Three credit hours.

Was ELEM 4301. This course provides pre-service teachers with foundational knowledge and best practices for the assessment of reading. Emphasis is placed on understanding core principles of assessment as they apply to literacy instruction, consistent with recommendations from the International Dyslexia Association’ s (2018) Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading. The course reviews the distinction between various assessment tools and their practical purposes within response to intervention (RTI) frameworks and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS). Must be taken concurrently with Field Experience II, ELED 30002 .
