Program Requirements
A minor in studio art consists of 15 hours, to include 3 hours of drawing, 3 hours of design, and 3 hours of prerequisites for upper-level study, and 6 hours of upper-level electives in studio work.
Art Courses as Electives
Non-art majors may elect to take studio art foundations courses numbered ARTS 10133 , ARTS 13133 , ARTS 21033 , ARTS 21503 , and ARTS 21803 . Upon completion of prerequisites, students may enroll in any of the Studio Foundation courses (e.g., ARTS 31003 - (was ARST 3320) Painting Fundamentals 1 , ARTS 32003 - (was ARST 3360) Introduction to Sculpture , ARTS 38003 - (was ARST 3370) Introduction to Photography , etc.) on either a pass/fail or grade basis. Although prerequisites are recommended, the following courses may be taken without prerequisites: ARAD 31003 - (was 3310) Introduction to Woodworking , ARAD 32003 - (was 3320) Introduction to Jewelry and Metals , ARAD 35003 - (was 3350) Introduction to Ceramics , ARTS 31003 - (was ARST 3320) Painting Fundamentals 1 , and ARTS 38003 - (was ARST 3370) Introduction to Photography .
